AKA GUM (fedpoffa protest)

O, memories… Sweet bitter memories
Of our anger chanting melodies
With dissent written in all our diaries
And insults, we shared like cowries
When the unifying cord of fedpoffa broke
And our hearts with hatred soaked
And campus jesters couldn’t afford to joke
Because in protests, their spirits awoke
Worthless leaves
Thieves
Damned Eves
We cursed, in macabre dances in the mid-day sun
But now we laugh and hug like father and son
For we have been bonded together by ‘aka’ gum

O, it’s been several years now
And I hear the chantings and the matching sound
I see the placards and the messages; wow
I feel the anger of the ballistic crowd
The both teams let the anger like rage
Knowing chaos was within range
Like a cat and dog in a cage
The carnage was strange
Exploitative retards
Bastards
Filthy rags
We cursed, in macabre dances in the mid-day sun
But now we laugh and hug like father and son
For we have been bonded together by ‘aka’ gum

Fedpoffa… O sweet, innocent fedpoffa
From stones and sad tunes, you suffered
As your kindred hated despite your love offered
But for your understanding, it might have been rougher
Tougher, spilling disaster
As each side desired to conquer
Wouldn’t stop to ponder
Willing to destroy the other
Nincompoops
Classless fools
Worthless tools
We cursed, in macabre dances in the mid-day sun
But now we laugh and hug like father and son
For we have been bonded together by ‘aka’ gum

A GOOD FRIEND

Tonia, if u ever wish to seek a divorce from your husband, let me know; I'll hook u up with another... And please don't thank me. After all, what are friends for?

HAHAHAHAHAHA

SHE VANISHED

I sat on the stool mulling
Lost in pensivity, mouth drooling
Pages in my mind began to flap
A panoramic review that rushed like a tap
I was lost in this stream of unconsciousness
And she flashed through my mind in all her sumptuousness
She was like lightning in a dreary dark night
She was sparkling like a shimmering white light
Her page stood still as my mind began to read
She was a bloomy belle, a sacred seed

She was young, naive and eager for love
With milky skin and gut-wrenching curves
She blazed in the sun like South African diamond
She’d got eyes like alluring almonds
I stood transfixed on this exquisite creature
At that point, I must say, I loved nature
She turned and stared at me with frightened eyes
Why the fear? I pondered. But there wasn’t time for WHYs
I trudged forward, my eyes beckoning appealingly
Her lips parted like she would smile and come willingly

She turned sharply and began to walk fast away
Uhh! What irony. I followed, oblivious of what to say
In my whole being, the glimmer of fear shone
I could not fathom loosing the particles of my bones
She was the subject of my frantic fantasy
She was an object that could offer me endless ecstasy
No! I wouldn’t let her go. “Hi!” I screamed aloud
I got no response; she vanished into the crowd.

Biafra Republic To Emerge In November

BZM, Biafra Zionist Group, says it has commenced its moves to formally launch ‘The Republic of Biafra’, stating that it’s long overdue. The group warned that Ndigbo would no longer stand idle while its brothers and sisters are continuously slaughtered like animals in the country’s North.

Daily, despondency spreads over the horizons of Nigeria, as the common man lacks knowledge of who is in charge. Deaths, blood and violence have become common words on the tongues of every one. Boko-haram, Government-haram and their cronies are constraining our choices, and the centre may no longer hold…     God help us!

THE GIRL FROM MY VILLAGE

The girl from my village
An angel about my age
With whom i wished to start a new page
And serve without wage
O, even in a cage
With her, there's no rage
She was ravishingly beautiful and titillating
With catwalk that made me never want to blink

The spirit of the people

Yesterday, I wished I was a Spaniard. The joy in the faces of the Spanish people, when it became apparent that they were going to win the Euro 2012 cup, was huge enough to make them forget their economic hardship for a while. And that’s the power that football has; power to erase your travails and misfortunes, especially when your side is leading; Power to restore your faith, hope and patriotism to your nation no matter how bleak the reality may seem. Hmmm, but when the match ended, reality dawned on me, and I realized my Nigerianness. And I wondered, what straw can this Nation offer her citizens to tickle their patriotism and faith?
